I love football. I do not mean that I like it more than most. I mean I actually love football. If it were possible for me to spend every day watching, playing, and talking about football I would. I think it started when my father got premier league tickets and took me to my first match.
I was never much into sports, I spent most of my time in the library reading and if I was not there, I was in the garage putting together intricate airplane models. My father always tried to get me to kick around the ball but it never interested me. That is, until the year I turned twelve. I can see it like it happened this morning. (more…)

The alarm sounded and every other sound seemed muffled beneath the blaring siren of the clock. Pushing out of the comfort of my bed was the last thing I wanted to do. I hated school. Most of my friends felt the same way and every morning we commiserated while we waited on the bus. This morning was no different. We walked towards the corner of Maplewood and Cornwall grumbling the whole way until we met beneath the large oak that marked our juvenile conference area.
Normally, our rather loud complaints of mathematic torture were uninterrupted. That morning, just as I was spouting the latest trial of my own pitiful existence, my father drove up and waved me over. I knew something was going on because my father never drove me to school. I started to get scared. My stomach flipped with fear as I climbed into the black truck and looked at my dad questioningly.
“I’ve got a surprise for you.” My dad said as we pulled away from the bus stop. (more…)

When you find yourself needing to move, increase your heart rate, and expend some pent-up energy, tennis is the perfect option. This sport requires the use of your legs and arms as well as a good mental capacity and hand-eye coordination. As a perk, tennis players do not need much equipment to play their game. A decent tennis racket and some balls, both available at most department stores and sporting goods’ stores, are easily procured, and a tennis court can be found at most local parks.
Tennis incorporates the thrill of running and oxygen pumping through ones lungs with the victorious feeling of smacking a ball with the racket. That amazing sound of the contact between the tennis ball and the racket and the realization that you just sent the ball flying back over the net is extremely rewarding. (more…)

Among the major professional sports enjoyed by people in the United States, hockey generally ranks on the lower end of the scale as far as popularity goes. Other sports, such as baseball, basketball and football, are more avidly followed by a larger number of fans. However, hockey has a huge following in its own right, and there are many aspects of this sport that make for some very exciting games. It incorporates aspects of each of the other three sports, making it surprisingly versatile and unique.
Like American football, the sport of hockey has an element of violence in its makeup. This is because players routinely crash into one another, creating quite a spectacle. In any given game, the chances are high that a couple of players will go head to head over a perceived slight or the bending of a rule. When this happens, everyone’s attention naturally focuses on the dueling players, and people hold their breath as the exchange occurs. These occasions are part of what makes hockey so exciting: the potential for man on man conflict. (more…)

Formula One, or F1 for short, has a history dating back to the European Grand Prix Motor Racing prior to World War II. The world ‘formula’ actually is a set of governing rules which all participating race teams and cars must adhere to. The combination of formula and one to produce F1 is meant to signify that F1 is most advanced of all he racing formulae.
Individual regional championships under variations on this rule set began prior to WWII, however the global conflict put a damper on international racing until its conclusion. The first international F1 World Championship was held in 1950 and won by team Alfa Romeo’s Giuseppe Farina. (more…)

If soccer fans had a wish list of which clubs they would see play in the UEFA Champions League Final, Barcelona FC and Manchester United would no doubt be at the top of that list. These are, arguably, the two premier soccer teams in the entire world; the two teams that bring the most eyeballs to the sport, and the teams that give you the best chance of a truly classic final. I was in Beijing this last year and wanted to go see one of the swimming competitions. I went down to the main ticket office to get an Olympic ticket, but found out that I couldn’t. Apparently, the tickets had all sold out. I guess I didn’t think that there would be that many people attending. It wasn’t like Michael Phelps was swimming that day. Either way I determined that I was not going to rest until I secured an Olympic ticket to the swimming event.
I decided my best bet was to go to the arena where the swimming contests are held and see if anyone wanted to part with their tickets. Unfortunately, everyone I asked wanted to hold onto them no matter what price I was offering.
Finally, someone said that they would trade my an Olympic ticket for swimming if I could get a ticket for beach volleyball. (more…)

My first experience with a real football match occurred when I was given a Tottenham Ticket for my birthday by my friend. I will never forget that day. The stands were buzzing with excitement. The smell of anticipation was thick in the air and I had trouble containing my excitement. When the boys from Tottenham entered the stadium the crowd went crazy.
Spectators cheered while the opponents leered and jeered from their seats. I remember how competitive even the youngest fan was. His tiny build was lost in a sea of half-crazed football fans but I could see him pumping his fists in the air with a fury. I imagine it was his first match as well and I smile to this day thinking about what a gift his father gave him by taking him to see Tottenham play. (more…)

I am a huge fan of rugby, but by far my favorite is Six Nations Rugby. Last year, I was dating a girl who had never seen a rugby game so I decided I’d take her to the Six Nations Rugby game. I went down to the ticket vendor and waited in line to get tickets. Unfortunately, the tickets turned out to be sold out. I didn’t know what I was going to do. I promised her that I would bring her to a game and we would have a really good time.
After spending a little time being completely distraught, I decided that there had to be another option. I let my girl know that we couldn’t attend the game. She was depressed at first as well, but said she happened to know that her brother had a few extra tickets that we could possibly get. (more…)

I’ve always been a huge fan of the sport and I found out that he had never had the opportunity to see a game live. I decided that I would head out and pick up some rugby tickets for both of us.

David really wanted to see the game. It was the match of the year and there was no way he was going to miss it. The rain pelted him like small beads scattering across a tile floor as he stood outside of the box office listening to the clerk snap repeatedly that the Champions League final tickets 2011 had all been sold. David was not going to miss this game, no matter what he had to do.
David was a solid guy, tall and muscular, with a hint of baby fat on his cheeks that gave him the adorable look of a school boy. His sandy hair was plastered to his face, giving him the appearance of a drowned rat as he made his way through the dark streets towards the pub. As he walked he chanted to himself over and over again, “bloody tickets.” The sound of his voice grew more urgent the closer got, and his focus was so intent that he did not see that he was headed straight for a large hole in the sidewalk. Sure, I’ve been known to partake in the odd game of chance now and then. Mind you, I’m no Joseph Jagger (remember him as the man who broke the bank at the Monte Carlo?), but I have done all right, especially around the blackjack table. I can tell even before I sit down at a table whether it’s going to be a good run. How? The dealer, that’s how. Sometimes landing a great dealer is like playing Bingo, but when you do things can really start to tick. Occasionally you do get stuck at a table you don’t want because the hall is full, and that’s when you just have to sit tight and wait until a spot opens up where you really want to start seeing the action. Basketball is a competitive team sport where two teams each consisting of twelve players with five playing at a time, attempt to score points by throwing or “shooting” a ball through the opposing team’s basket. An attempt to score the ball is called a shot and each shot is worth either two or three points. A shot is worth three points if it is made behind a three-point arc that is either 7.2 meters from the basket in professional basketball games or 6.25 meters from the basket in international games. The typical basketball hoop is approximately 10 feet high. The team that scores the most points wins the game. (more…)

KERS stands for Kinetic Energy Recovery System and made its debut in Formula One this season. This technology has not had the impact Max Mosley envisioned when he proposed the idea at the idea in 2006. Basically the system saves energy lost when braking. This energy can boost horsepower during the race.
There are several regulations regarding the use of KERS to ensure fairness. It is optional, so a team or driver can use it at one venue and not at another. The energy output is limited to 80 horsepower and drivers can only use this boost of energy for a total of 8 seconds per lap. When to use your KERS boost becomes a key tactical decision during the race.
The future of KERS in Formula One is in significant doubt. Some of the teams using it have spent as much as £45 million developing the technology. This equals the amount teams will be allowed to spend next season for the entire year. And that includes salaries. (more…)

Highsbury stadium, 1913.
Arsenal Stadium , better known as Highbury , was built in 1913. It was the former home of London soccer club Arsenal. It was in the same neighborhood in the capital. Highbury was known for his very small (101 by 67 meters), but well maintained field.
The original stadium was designed by the renowned football architect Archibald Leitch, and had a design like many stadiums in the United Kingdom at that time, with a grandstand and three outdoor terraces. The whole stadium underwent in the 30′s some great innovations: new Art Deco West and East Stands were built, opening in respectively 1932. and 1936., and there was a roof added to the North Bank stand, which was bombed during the Second World War I and was not restored until 1954.
The stadium had a capacity of 38,500 seats (12,500 at the North Bank, 11,000 in the West Stand, East Stand at the 9000 and 6000 at the Clock End, where the core is placed). It has two large screens in the south-eastern and north-western corner.
The audience is recorded from 1935., during Arsenal’s match against Sunderland. 72,395 spectators were recorded. Until the early 90s of last century had a stadium capacity of 57,000 spectators.
An expansion of Highbury was restricted because the East Stand had been designated as a listed building and the other three stands were close to other houses. These restrictions prevented the club from making the maximum revenue risked connection with the other top teams losing. Hence there was a new stadium, about 500 meters from Highbury. In 2006. Arsenal moved to Emirates Stadium. The old stadium was replaced by houses. The East Stand and West Stand persisted because of the historically significant Art Deco influences. (more…)

Spread betting is any of various types of wagering on the outcome of an event, where the pay-off is based on the accuracy of the wager, rather than a simple “win or lose” outcome, such as fixed-odds (or money-line) betting or parimutuel betting. A spread is a range of outcomes, and the bet is whether the outcome will be above or below the spread. Spread betting has been a major growth market in the UK in recent years, with the number of gamblers heading towards one million. Spread betting carries a high level of risk, with potential losses or gains far in excess of the original money wagered. In the UK, spread betting is regulated by the Financial Services Authority rather than the Gambling Commission. Premium Arsenal Tickets at great prices. Get it now and enjoy your favorite game.

The term ‘sports nets’ can refer to both nets that are used for specific sports, such as tennis nets and soccer goals, or nets that are used to protect equipment while playing sports, such as those that cover lights in a gymnasium. Both of these types of nets are very important in the world of sports. Whether they are needed for indoor or outdoor use, there is probably a product on the market for your particular sports needs.
You have probably at some time in your life played a game of soccer without a net in the goal. It can work for a little while, until the ball rolls so far through the goal posts that you cannot find it again. A nice net will stop that from happening. Tennis and volleyball cannot be played correctly at all with out a net stretched between two poles. In these games, a sports net helps determine which team gets the ball, who gets or does not get a point, and whether a hit should count or not. There are several other sports that nets can be useful in, including cricket, football, and even golf.
There are sports nets on the market that are made to be used as a divider for the field or court. When you have several sports going on, these nets can separate one activity from another and help the players focus on their sport, rather than being distracted by what is going on around them.
Another type of sports nets is those used to protect easily-damaged property during sports events. These can be nets that can protect windows and lights, or they can be nets surrounding a field to protect the spectators. Whatever your needs are, there is a sports net out there to help you. (more…)
