If you have never been to a Champions League Final match you have no idea what is in store. It’s the kind of energy that you have to feel to believe. While people talk about going to the Super Bowl and how “amazing” it is to see it in person, the main difference is that at the Super Bowl most of the audience is made up of sponsors and celebrities. This means that if you are a fan you have a tendency to get shut out of the stadium at the Super Bowl. While there are a good amount of celebrities at the Champions League Final, you will also find a vast majority of fans as well. Whether it’s for Barcelona FC or Manchester United, you can be sure that the crowd will be filled with passionate soccer fans who cheer or boo everything that is going on on the pitch, not people who are looking to be seen at the event. I have never been much of a football fan, but that all changed when I met my new boyfriend. You could call him the ultimate super fan. He loves everything to do with football and his favorite football team the Chelsea Blues. After a few months of blissfully dating his birthday arrived and I gave him two Chelsea tickets.
I mistakenly thought he would bring one of his friends to the game but my handsome boyfriend wanted to take me. I grudgingly agreed, it was his birthday after all. When the day of the big game arrived, I prepared myself for a day of torturous boredom. As soon as we pulled into the stadium I knew I had been wrong. (more…)

However, there were two stadiums, which had been selected, the Alianz Arena in Munich and Olympiastadion stadium, which is situated in Berlin. Next year finals will be played in Munich. Liverpool is by far my favorite team and I always love to go see the games. This time I wanted to bring my girlfriend. We’d only been dating a few weeks, but she had never seen Liverpool play and I thought it would be a great opportunity to expose her to something new.
One problem, though. All the Liverpool tickets were sold out. I wasn’t going to be deterred, however. I wanted to go to the game and I definitely didn’t want to let my girlfriend down. (more…)

In an eleven month tournament, upsets happen. Teams that were supposed to move on lose to lesser teams, which sometimes leads to an interesting, yet not inspiring, final pairing. In a tournament that features over fifty teams and five rounds, upsets are bound to happen in the UEFA Champions League tournament. While the 2010/11 Champions League tournament has seen it’s share of upset’s, it has also come down to an epic final pairing that most soccer fans were hoping for from the second that that knockout rounds were announced: Barcelona FC V. Manchester United. Not only are these the two biggest soccer teams on the planet, but arguably the two biggest sports franchises in the world doing battle on the pitch of Wembley Stadium to decide the best club team on the European continent for 2011. I love football. I do not mean that I like it more than most. I mean I actually love football. If it were possible for me to spend every day watching, playing, and talking about football I would. I think it started when my father got premier league tickets and took me to my first match.
I was never much into sports, I spent most of my time in the library reading and if I was not there, I was in the garage putting together intricate airplane models. My father always tried to get me to kick around the ball but it never interested me. That is, until the year I turned twelve. I can see it like it happened this morning. (more…)

Getting the ticket for Manchester United match made me have to struggle with the efforts. The amount of people who are interested to attend each match on the English premier leagues has made many football fans have to bear the disappointment in getting the match ticket of their favorite football club. This also happened to me when I tried to get the ticket from some ticket boxes. English premier league is a popular game; no wonder if the tickets are completely sold out. If we are too late in hunting the ticket, we will have a hard time because there will be no more ticket left even if it is still few days before the match. Well, since I have already set my purpose and the only thing I want was getting the ticket for the Manchester United Match, I started to hunt for the ticket online. (more…)

It’s hard enough to get champions league final tickets when you aren’t looking at a Manchester United and Barcelona FC matchup. Heck, Champions League Final Tickets sell out hours after they are released to the public, and that months before a final matchup is even announced. All the final pairing does is make the scalper tickets that are out on the market that much harder to get. Or, at least, that more expensive. Add in the fact that a English team is playing in the final at Wembley Field and it suddenly became that much harder to score yourself a ticket to what will surely be one of the most watched games in soccer history. Heck, the 2009 final, which also included Barcelona and Man U brought more than a billion people around the world to their television screens; the 2011 version of the match should bring in even more. To put it in terms that the American populous would understand, the UEFA Champions League Final is kind of like the Super Bowl, but on a much larger scale. Imagine if all the countries in North and South America had their own American Football Leagues, and the best of the best of those teams got together and participated in a tournament, which ultimately lead to the two best teams playing in the Super Bowl. Not only would all of North America be excited, but all of South America as well. This is what the Champions League Final is like, but bigger. There are going to be more eyes on this Final than the NFL could ever dream of for the Super Bowl. And to make things even more spectacular, you have, arguably, the two biggest soccer teams in the world taking part in the 2011 Champions League Match, Barcelona FC and Manchester United. (more…)

I absolutely love the Champions League and this year I decided that it was by far time for me to finally get some tickets. One big problem, though, by the time I had enough money saved up, all of the Champions League tickets were sold out.
My buddy and I decided we’d watch of movie and try to think of something to do. There had to be a way to get tickets. I knew there was a second-hand market, but what was going to be the best way to get decently priced tickets from a reliable source. Get your Liverpool tickets for all Home and Away events!
I checked on line. Most of the people selling tickets, however, were pretty sketchy at best. They wanted the money up front or to meet them in some deserted alleyway. We were not going to get mugged just because we wanted a couple of Champions League tickets. (more…)

I am a huge fan of Chelsea, as are a number of my friends. Last week we were out for lunch and decided it would be a fun time to get tickets for the next game. There were three of us total and decided it would be most efficient for me to go down to the ticket seller to get them after my next shift.
Once I got down there, however, there was a huge line which made me slightly anxious. I tried bribing my way up in in line. The first few people accepted and I eventually spent enough money to buy a fourth Chelsea ticket. This didn’t deter me, however. I was going to go see the next game no matter what.
I was able to bribe my way forward a little bit more, but eventually got stuck from this big guy from the United States in one of wholesale NFL jerseys. Apparently, he had never seen a Chelsea game ever and was going to be sure he got the tickets he wanted. No matter how hard I tried, he refused to let me pass him. “I’m going to that game,” he kept saying.
After another few minutes, he finally got to the window. He asked for two tickets and bought them. At least I was still going to get tickets, I thought. But that’s when it happened – the woman working the ticket stand slammed the window shut and put up a sign that said “Sold Out.”
I was absolutely distraught. For the next few minutes, I stood there pleading with passers-by that there must be some sort of mistake. There was no way I was going to miss the chance to get Chelsea tickets. (more…)

There are some soccer games that are just bigger than others. When you are talking about a Champions League Final that features Manchester United V. Barcelona FC, you are talking about arguably the two biggest sports teams in the world going for the ultimate title in club soccer. In a tournament of big teams (Barcelona beat teams such as Arsenal, Tottenham and Real Madrid on the way to the match, while Manchester United took out Chelsea, among others), these are the two teams that true soccer fans out there wanted to see meet up in the finals. This is a massive game that will no doubt set television records, though some people out there will want to see the game with their own eyes. If you are going to see the game with your own eyes on the pitch of Wembley Stadium, though, you are going to have to be willing to spend your money. (more…)

It seems like years ago now. Yet, I can still remember the joy of taking the field for the first time on my new travel team. I was the new goalie and I was almost sick to my stomach. As much as I hoped not to see any action throughout the day (better for my team, right?), I was ready to show my worth and value. I wanted to put my practice into action and pit my skill against those on the field.
The rain was pouring down (perfect football weather!), the ground at the goal mouth was a bit muddy. My coach came over and had me sit down in the mud – hands held over my head. He wanted to ensure that I would not be tentative or unwilling to dive, slide, run, or muck through it all. Later, my mother had a few words with him about washing my uniform or something of the like – but I didn’t care – I was ready! (more…)

Highsbury stadium, 1913.
Arsenal Stadium , better known as Highbury , was built in 1913. It was the former home of London soccer club Arsenal. It was in the same neighborhood in the capital. Highbury was known for his very small (101 by 67 meters), but well maintained field.
The original stadium was designed by the renowned football architect Archibald Leitch, and had a design like many stadiums in the United Kingdom at that time, with a grandstand and three outdoor terraces. The whole stadium underwent in the 30′s some great innovations: new Art Deco West and East Stands were built, opening in respectively 1932. and 1936., and there was a roof added to the North Bank stand, which was bombed during the Second World War I and was not restored until 1954.
The stadium had a capacity of 38,500 seats (12,500 at the North Bank, 11,000 in the West Stand, East Stand at the 9000 and 6000 at the Clock End, where the core is placed). It has two large screens in the south-eastern and north-western corner.
The audience is recorded from 1935., during Arsenal’s match against Sunderland. 72,395 spectators were recorded. Until the early 90s of last century had a stadium capacity of 57,000 spectators.
An expansion of Highbury was restricted because the East Stand had been designated as a listed building and the other three stands were close to other houses. These restrictions prevented the club from making the maximum revenue risked connection with the other top teams losing. Hence there was a new stadium, about 500 meters from Highbury. In 2006. Arsenal moved to Emirates Stadium. The old stadium was replaced by houses. The East Stand and West Stand persisted because of the historically significant Art Deco influences. (more…)
